Death Lens stand tall on imposing hardcore anthem "Monolith"

Death Lens start the year off swinging with “Monolith,” an imposing hardcore anthem that stands tall, representing an evolutionary leap in the band’s high voltage sonic presence for their upcoming third LP, What’s Left Now?, and a confident step forward in their uniquely diverse East LA perspective.
Emerging from within the shuffling static of an analog dial tracking across the airwaves in pursuit of elusive meaning, “Monolith” blends the melodic Latin heartbeat of East Los Angeles with monumental hardcore rhythms and metallic six-string pyrotechnics that coalesce into a towering testament to the tenacity and fortitude required to overcome challenges and arise victorious. The blistering composition explodes with layers of electric attitude unlike anything the band has unleashed before, glistening with the impressive depth and blinding finish of a ‘64 lowrider polished to perfection into an icon of labor and artistry. Pummeling percussion moves in menacing lockstep with colossal basslines as frontman Bryan Torres unleashes a muscular blitzkrieg of confident bravado and leather-tough prose earned from years of self-reliance on the front lines.
The high-contrast video directed by Joél Verges captures the gritty, streetwise nature of Death Lens’ origins with Tarantino-esque flair. Shadowy underpasses illuminated by halogen streetlights burning like embers in the inky blackness set the stage for “Monolith” to rise above the urban foundation, colliding headlong with tight closeups emphasizing the intimate, confessional nature of the track’s unvarnished approach to the unrelenting pressures of survival in the city and the hard work required to stand tall and achieve one’s dreams.
