Death Valley Girls merge simulation with reality on multiversal new single 'What Are The Odds'

Descending from the celestial plane with the otherworldly grace of benevolent visitors from another planet, Death Valley Girls have returned with an intergalactic new single that trips the light fantastic to celebrate the harmony of perceived existence on our weird and wonderful world.
Simulation hypothesis is not a new concept, having been discussed by some of history's greatest philosophical minds dating back to the 17th Century. The idea that our reality may actually be part of a computer simulation has gained exponential momentum as humanity's technological prowess has rapidly advanced, breaking through into the mainstream cultural consciousness as video games and virtual reality become progressively more immersive and accessible. Are we living in a version of The Matrix, and if we are how can we know for sure that the world around us is real or merely a manifestation of binary data rendered tangible to our limited perception?
Death Valley Girls are no strangers to peering beyond the veil of reality, parting the ephemeral boundaries between the known and unknown with boundless curiosity on a quest for comprehension and acceptance of life's truer meanings. The band's latest single, "What Are The Odds" directly addresses the idea that life may not completely be what it seems, and with an open mind and open heart anyone can recognize the signs and find peace within the swirling kaleidoscope.Â
Flipping Madonna's 1984 manifesto on it's head, Death Valley Girls abandon the tangible trappings of the Material World to find immeasurable riches in accepting the bigger picture that extends far beyond its gilded frame. "We are living in a simulated world, and we are simulated girls!" melds a chorus of voices as one, a multiverse of identities coming together in a rallying cry for celestial solidarity no matter which plane of reality you may happen to inhabit.
Samantha Westervelt directs an inspired video for "What Are The Odds" that neatly sums up the multiplicity of existence that inhabits the souls of each and every one of us. Brooding darkness and radiant positivity meet face-to-face, as multiple versions of individuals come together in perfect union at a pool party on the edge of eternity. Black and white footage is contrasted with brilliant color as two halves edge closer to becoming one, punctuated with Brady Bunch-style framing as the band splits and multiplies like living cells on their way to manifesting into a complete organism. Throughout the journey spanning multiple facets of reality there is one constant; four legged and fluffy, Death Valley Girls' canine extraordinaire Tommie serves as a spiritual guide, steadfastly leading the band toward their actualized truth.
"What Are The Odds" is the first single off Islands In The Sky, the band's new LP releasing on February 24, 2023 and available for preorder on limited vinyl and CD. Stream Death Valley Girls' on Spotify and follow the band on Instagram.
