Electric Jaguar Baby cruise the desert on latest fuzz-bomb 'Shiver River'
Momentum is building towards Electric Jaguar baby's sophomore LP Psychic Death Safari with the release of the latest single "Shiver River."
Constructed on a framework of precision percussion, "Shiver River" exudes rhythmic confidence with a mechanical stomp that leaves plenty of space for the superfuzzed riffs and distorted vocals to amplify the track with generous electric swagger. As a whole the composition is uncluttered and tight, never wasting any energy attempting to break molds or push envelopes; "Shiver River" is comfortable being a straightforward, no-nonsense rocker and the ideal soundtrack for asphalt cruising.
Similar in spirit to the band's previous single, "Hitmaker," the video for "Shiver River" mashes up psychedelic effects with classic b-movie footage and clips of crumbling Americana to channel the timeless aesthetic of celluloid daydreams from eras past. Sweeping desert vistas provide a backdrop for unabashed chrome and leather motorcycle worship as edifices and artifacts of midcentury Southwestern culture slowly succumb to the ever shifting sands, ceding mankind's dominance back to the flora and fauna that call the wastelands home. Images of outlaw culture existing on the fringes of civilization, beholden only to the open road.
Electric Jaguar Baby's sophomore LP Psychic Death Safari is out October 7th on Rebel Waves Records and available for preorder on Bandcamp. Follow the band on Instagram for the latest.
