JEFF The Brotherhood enlist mysterious maestros Blanc Du Blanc on heady "Celebration Dub"

Nashville’s prodigal sons JEFF The Brotherhood have covered extensive creative ground since emerging from the brilliantly ramshackle bedroom grunge of their earliest recordings, charting a course through a myriad of tangentially connected rock n roll subgenres before launching off into the stratosphere of jazz-influenced art-rock that continues to be the dynamic duo’s modus operandi in the wake of post-major label exposure. Never ones to remain defined by a single sonic characteristic for long, JEFF The Brotherhood have teamed up with mysterious dub maestros Blanc Du Blanc for a reimagining of several selections from the Bros’ 2018 release, Magick Songs.
Magick Songs explored the psychedelic depths of Jake and Jamin’s expansive oeuvre, weaving heady stoner-y grooves through a palpable miasma of smoky incense obscured soundscapes that wavered and flickered like undulating flames behind perforated copper screens of Moroccan lanterns swaying in the solar breeze of an intergalactic opium den on the outer rim of infinity.
The original recording of “Celebration” epitomized that vibe completely, making the track the perfect choice for co-conspirators Blanc Du Blanc to infuse their dubby magic into the already impeccably steeped composition as the lead single from the forthcoming EP. Deep, rounded basslines and tribal percussion add a hypnotically danceable element to the proceedings, beckoning further beyond the liquid surface of the looking glass into realms of consciousness inaccessible without the alchemical gateway opened by the beguiling rhythms unfolding across the track.
Virgina Spoo handcrafted a Wes Anderson-esque stop motion visual element for “Celebration Dub” that follows a nattily disheveled raven on one-way road trip warping twee visual aesthetics through a Lynchian lens with dramatically unsettling results - a surprisingly appropriate open-ended companion to JEFF The Brotherhood and Blanc Du Blanc’s avantgarde sonic spelunking.
