Lambrini Girls conducted a masterclass colloquium in Cuntology at Lodge Room
Brighton badasses Lambrini Girls unleashed a blitzkrieg of unrelenting socio-political punk that whipped the Lodge Room into a frenzied froth with support from homegrown hardcore heroes, Death Lens.
Opening the evening with a muscular set of full throttle bruisers that showcased the band’s uniquely east-LA perspective, Death Lens’ uncompromising presence dominated the stage with pugilistic force. Streetwise and leather tough, cuts from their catalog tackled hot button societal issues and deeply personal topics with equal intensity, set to a cavalcade of riffs and rhythms that riped harder than a custom motorbike juiced on a doubleshot of nitrous and imbued with rakish charm.

Without ceremony or introduction, Lambrini Girls’ Phoebe Lunny and Lilly Macieira brought the ruckus, blasting through a set that included a heady lineup of colossal tracks from their smash debut Who Let The Dogs Out and a myriad of razor sharp deep cuts. Augmented with the percussive talents of Samantha Collings that exploded with unrelenting force, the band ignited the atmosphere with jagged bolts of propulsive electric fury and thunderously pummeling rhythms. Lunny is without question a master emcee, a commanding presence on the mic declaring manifestos with focused ferocity and possessed of the uncanny ability to directly connect and engage with the audience, orchestrating the mosh into elaborate eruptions of communal physicality and amplifying the presence of select individuals among the sweaty throng. Through song and sermon alike the crowd was willingly enraptured, drawn like moths to the smoldering firebrand at the epicenter of the seismic onslaught.
Lambrini Girls unabashedly take strong stances on a range of issues and the band leveraged their platform to cast a floodlight on high pressure subjects from politics to abuse and beyond, which should come as no surprise for anyone that's spent even a little time with Lambrini Girls output. In the moments between songs the halls of Lodge Room were transformed into a sort of mini-colloquium, a gathering of individuals deeply invested in the subject at hand, receptive to the message and willing to fight for inalienable rights and honest visibility.
Now is the time, now is the moment, to capture attention and mobilize an army of the disenfranchised and their allies to be a force for change, for good, for the right to exist without prejudice and love however, whoever, and wherever you wish. This is the true ethos of punk, and Lambrini Girls embody the spirit and the veracity of the medium wholly and completely for a new wave of cultural movers and shakers.
