We’ve been stuck inside for months now so we’re starting to get very well acquainted with the material possessions we surround ourselves with — including our record collections. This got us curious about the collections and setups of other artists, tastemakers, and people within the music industry. We’re stoked to be introducing a new video series on Alt Citizen where those people give us a personal tour of their collection and allow us to check it out for ourselves.
Kicking off the series is Megan Ternes. I was fortunate enough to stumble into an industry panel Megan was speaking on at Capitol Hill Block Party in 2018. Trying to reacquaint myself with the Seattle music scene, I loved hearing about her experience as label manager at Suicide Squeeze — which for me, was my introduction to the great music that label was supporting. Outside of her position there, Megan has also worked with the gone (but never forgotten) Sasquatch! Music Festival as their director of social media, as well as working in media relations, promo, and digital marketing with Sub Pop, Merge Records, DoStuff Media, and music venues in both Seattle and North Carolina. Megan now finds herself as the Senior Digital Channel Manager at Weller Media Agency, but still finds time to take her records out for a spin at her DJ sets. With her diverse and varying experience in the industry as a curator — she clearly knows her stuff! And she has a great collection to prove it. Check out some of her favorites and why she started collecting in the video below.
