Tune In, Burn Out: Electric Citizen confronts the fatalism of digital overdose on “Static Vision"

Cincinnati’s heaviest citizens are back with a new single that channels generations of hard rock and heavy psych into a commentary on the nature of maintaining humanity when faced with the inescapable fatalism of a digital overdose.
“Static Vision” bursts out of the gate with a chugging, rhythmic cadence bolstered by a kaleidoscopic psychedelic undercurrent that coalesces into Electric Citizen’s signature sound, barreling forward with weighty intent. Colossal riffs and organic synths mellow out on the bridge, locking into a steady groove that shimmers with soaring vocals before breaking free into a runaway solo. The emotive elements of the track are amplified to brush ever so briefly with a Sistine ceiling of pure psychedelic rock nirvana before a tumbling return to the hook, a blistering exorcism of heady turbulence exploding into mesmerizing static visions.
Tackling themes of media manipulation and digital isolationism and their impact on the human psyche, Electric Citizen reflect upon the nature of existence in relation to the overwhelmingly endless expanse of the virtual infoscape. Confronting the hollowed-out sensation of being terminally online, “I’m living in a glass room, what’s living in me?” hits like a 1000-amp power surge, tripping the breakers of perception and forcing a hard reset back to reality. From this new perspective we’re left standing on the brink of eternity as the final vestiges of humanity fall away into the void, leaving the solitary soul floating untethered in the black, radiant with a fiery incandescence that refuses to be extinguished by the night.
